Phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) maintains a constant pH, and its ion concentration and osmolarity matches that of human cells.  PBS is used to remove media serum before trypsinization.

Contains no non-human animal-derived components (“xeno-free”), and no calcium or magnesium.
