Lifeline^® Normal Human Bladder Apex Epithelial Cells, when grown in UroLife™ culture medium, provide an ideal culture model for the study of bladder biology.

Primary Bladder Cells for Valid Outcomes

Primary Human Bladder Epithelial Cells – Apex are isolated from the apex (neck or trigone) region of human bladder tissue and expanded in culture vessels before being harvested for cryopreservation.

Because these bladder cells are directly cultured from their source organ tissue and haven’t been modified in any way, your experimental outcomes will be true. These primary cells come from many donors to be representative of the general population.

Bladder Epithelial Cells are tested in complete UroLife Medium to ensure proper growth and morphology.

Lifeline Primary Bladder Epithelial Cells need not be exposed to antimicrobials or phenol red when cultured in Lifeline culture media. Lifeline offers these traditional supplements, but they are not needed or recommended to achieve optimal cell performance in most research applications (an advantage since these supplements can negatively impact experimental results.)

Normal Human Bladder Cells – Apex are tested for:

• Proliferation and Morphology:  Normal cell appearance for 15 population doublings
• Viability: Minimum 70% viability when thawed from cryopreservation
• Sterility:  Negative for mycoplasma, Negative for bacterial and fungal growth
• Virus:  Negative for HIV-1, HIV-2, HBV, and HCV by PCR
